Scholarships

Walter Harrison Scholarship

Flint Energies enters five applications from our service area into a pool of statewide entries each year. Nine $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2010 to students in EMC households. High school seniors and undergraduate students attending any vocational school or two- or four-year accredited college or university in Georgia are eligible to apply. Deadline for 2010 applications is Feb. 1, 2010. Check back in December to download an application for 2010.

Congratulations to the TWO Flint Energies winners chosen from statewide competition!

More than $ 125,500 has been awarded to students in EMC households since the program began in 1987. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of a scored essay, academic achievement and financial need. Georgia's EMCs started the scholarship program to honor the late Walter Harrison. Harrison was known in Georgia and across the nation as "Mr. Rural Electrification” for his pioneering efforts in the electrical cooperative industry and for his lifelong dedication to improving life in rural areas.

Flint Energies Foundation Jack Hunnicutt Scholarship

The Flint Energies Foundation Jack Hunnicutt Scholarship was established in memory of Jack Hunnicutt, a founding member and former chairman of the Flint Energies Foundation Board, which administers Operation RoundUp® funds. Four scholarships are awarded annually in the amount of $1,250 to Macon State College students attending classes at the Warner Robins campus. The scholarship may be renewed for up to four consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA and a reasonable, advisable course of study toward achieving graduation in a timely manner.

The scholarship was awarded to the following students for the 2007-2008 academic year:
