Powering Today. Empowering Tomorrow

Commitment to Community

The people who keep your power on are also your neighbors. Flint Energies employs 225+ individuals who live in the communities they serve. Since your Co-op is local, we take an interest in improving and sustaining our communities and have several programs that show our commitment. Flint Energies and its Members have given more than $6 million to local causes, including economic development efforts like our Rural Murals program; Bright Ideas teacher grants, college scholarships and grants for worthy, local nonprofit organizations and projects. Our employees volunteer with chambers of commerce, charitable organizations, civic clubs, youth sports and more.

Customer Choice

At Flint Energies, we know a company’s power supplier is a critical element for success.

In Georgia, select businesses who build a new facility in Georgia qualify for Georgia's Customer Choice program, affording them a one-time chance to choose their power supplier.

The Georgia Territorial Electric Service Act of 1973 designates exclusive service areas for power providers across the state. Georgia’s 41 Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs) serve 71% of the state’s land area. However, businesses with electrical loads of 900 kW or greater qualify for a one-time selection of their power provider.

Benefits of doing business with us:

  • Service at Cost
    • As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, we’re not in it for the money, but for improving the quality of life for all our Member-owners and the communities we serve. We sell our services at cost to our Member-owners. Our rates are competitive because our goal is to cover costs, not maximize profit.
  • Reliability
    • We offer you reliable service through state-of-the-art technologies, such as our distribution automation system, that minimizes outage duration.
  • Power Generation Diversity
    • Flint Energies has a diverse portfolio of energy generation including traditional sources of nuclear, natural gas, hydro and coal, as well as innovative, local renewable energy sources of solar, biomass and landfill gas. Flint owns generation and maintains long-term power supply agreements with major local and national power providers.
  • Refunds
    • At the end of the year, we typically return any revenue that exceeds expenses to our Member-owners in the form of capital credits – cash back from your energy bill investment. Since 1937, Flint has returned more than $65 million to our Member-owners.
  • Local Partners
    • We’re locally owned and operated so we are right beside you – on call 24/7. Decisions are made here, not in a Wall Street board room or overseas. The people who keep your power on are also your neighbors. Flint Energies employs 225+ individuals who live in the communities they serve.

FireStarter

The Catalyst for Innovation Connectivity

Flint Energies, in conjunction with local Chambers of Commerce and the State of Georgia’s Small Business Week, has created the FireStarter Entrepreneur and Innovation Community.

FireStarter is a community effort to identify and engage local entrepreneurs and innovators in a conversation about what they are doing, how they are doing it, and what they need in order to do it better. There is a firm need to diversify our local economy and this program is meant to start with identifying those community members who can organically grow companies from our existing resources. Each month, there will be a formal meeting time so that the community can come together to network and trade ideas and lessons learned, as well as establish a list of programs that would be beneficial to their success.

The FireStarter FABLab is a space designed for custom digital fabrication and contains all of the tools necessary to rapidly conceptualize, digitize, fabricate and assemble a wide variety of physical projects. FireStarter offers classes ranging from woodworking and welding to embroidery and laser engraving.
