Flint Energies has provided requested electric information to developers of a potential data center that is considering constructing in the northeast corner of Muscogee County, bordering Talbot and Harris counties. Providing this type of information is standard operating procedure when any potential new electric consumer above a certain size (900 kilowatts) is interested in locating in an electric utility’s service area within the state of Georgia.

No commitments have been made to date.  It is much too early in the process to speculate if Flint will ultimately be the energy utility for this consumer.  Providing this initial requested electric information does not mean that Flint Energies is serving the data center with electricity. It is the first step in a multi-step and multi-layered process.

As with any potential new electric consumer in our 17-county territory, Flint Energies is open to working with any industry that will improve the quality of life for our members and will add value to those communities we serve. There are many factors to be considered, and conditions to be met before Flint will commit to be named as the power provider for this data center load,” states Jeremy Nelms, Flint Energies’ President & CEO .  “Most notably, Flint’s primary non-negotiable requirement for serving a large load such as this potential data center is the existing Flint members/ratepayers must be protected from any potential negative impacts associated with providing service to the project.”
